error message at start up

Asked by john

Dell Inspiron 6400n with Ubuntu 9.10 recently upgraded from 9.04.

At start up I get this message: utf8 is not a recommended IO charset for FAT filesystems, filesystem will be case sensitive!

What action should I take? It has appeared since the last update.

Looks like you may need to edit /etc/fstab to quash the warning, however there is a bug logged for this in Debian.

Have you logged a bug for this?

Thank you action Actionparsnip for your advice. I followed the threads but found it hard to see how it applied directly to my situation since the laptop I have came with ubuntu pre-installed. I had not taken any action, but today's -09.11.09 - update with a large linux image 2.6.31 generic seems to have resolved the problem.

Let us taje it then that the problem is solved. Thank you.
