xdg-open error "unknown program name"

Asked by gnufied

Binary package hint: kubuntu-desktop

On Kubuntu 9.04 xdg-open and kde-open seem to be broken. On my machine running KDE 4.2.4 (from PPA). Both kde-open and xdg-open throws:

5297 jui % xdg-open README
Qt: Session management error: Could not open network socket
<unknown program name>(15086)/ ClientApp::doIt: Creating ClientApp
Qt: Session management error: Could not open network socket
kioclient(15086): Session bus not found

Actually your dbus session bus seems to be broken, which is an issue, but no bug -> converting to question :)

`unset DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS`

`dbus-launch` uses random D-Bus addresses, which makes for problems.1
