Cannot install Xubuntu 9.04

Asked by Александар Андевски

My friend gave me a cd with Linux Xubuntu 9.04..Since my cd rom doesn't work for some reason, i had to copy the installation on laptop, then to usb, and from usb to my pc (to an empty partition, F:\)
I started it.. (wubi.exe), i selected Demo and Full installation, and then selected help me to boot from CD (because other options didn't do anything at all)

Installation started..
But i didn't notice that i didn't have enough free space in C:\, so at about 60% the installation didn't complete...
I started cleaning up unnecesarry things, and i did Shift+Delete C:\ubuntu (because i thought that it isn't full installation, no need for uninstall)..
Now with free space, when i try to install, using the same method as first time, i get
"A previous installation was detected in C:\ubuntu.
Please uninstall before continuing."
I press OK (only option), and it ends...

Checked C:\, there was nothing..
Tried to write C:\ubuntu in adress bar, nothing did came up..
Checked Uninstall programs (Control panel), didn't see Xubuntu, Ubuntu, or even Linux there..
Tried to use Search, for terms "linux", "xubuntu" and "ubuntu", didn't find anything..And i still can't install...

Some solutions?

I am using
Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2
AMD Athlon x2 (Dual core) 3800+ 2.0GHz
2 x 1 GB Ram DDRII
NVidia GeForce 8600GT

Had my friend install without any problems from the same CD..So that is not the problem..

You may have to edit your registry to delete the wubi entrys to manually remove

The Wubi wiki has a howto on this, did you not websearch any?

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/WubiGuide#How%20do%20I%20manually%20uninstall%20Wubi?

Says:

Remove C:\ubuntu and C:\wubildr*.

In Windows XP you need to edit C:\boot.ini and delete the Ubuntu/Wubi line. For Vista, you can use EasyBCD to edit the boot menu. Alternatively you can modify the boot menu via control_panel > system > advanced > startup_and_recovery and pressing "Edit". For Windows 98 you have to edit C:\config.sys, and remove the Wubi block.

To remove Wubi from the add/remove list, delete the registry key: HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Wubi

An easy method of removing this registry key is to paste the following text into a plain editor such as Notepad, close and save the file as something like removeWubiKey.reg (you may wish to go to Folder Options > View and disable the "Hide file extensions for known file types" option to check that the .reg extension has actually been applied). Then you can perform the rest automatically by opening the file in the normal Windows manner, or choosing the "Merge" option from the right click context menu. Note: The formatting is rather strict, so copy the text exactly for best results. You may need to be logged in as the administrator to delete the key, depending on the version of Windows you are using. User Account Control in Vista may also pop up, in the typical fashion.

REGEDIT4

[-HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Wubi]

After deleting the registry key, Ubuntu may still appear in the program list. If this is the case, you may be asked if you would like to remove the item from the list.

Thanks for the response...
But i sadly can't do those steps..
I just got back from school (pc hasn't been turned on since i wrote last time), and now it won't even start Windows Vista..
I get Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change can be cause (but i have not changed anything).
And it tells me to insert windows disc, and restart computer..
Strangely, my cd-rom was working, but for some reason i coudn't start the cd... I checked Setup (delete when pc starts up), for primary boot device, and my cd-rom was gone (i am sure i had it, since first time this morning SATA1 detected a cd-rom, and SATA2 my HDD)
I reminded that i had Xubuntu 9.04 on my USB Flash Drive..
So i plugged it in, and set boot device to usb..And when i try to start, i get "BOOTMGR is missing, Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart."
I press, and same thing goes again...
So.. Any solution?
My CD-Rom still does not work, (even with Vista cd in it (heard that if u insert cd it will install drivers)), and i don't have any OS to run...

In fact, i did some software changes, I used EasyBCD, and when i first started it, there wasn't any Xubuntu, Ubuntu or Linux or anything..
I tried to add Xubuntu, as Wubi and the other 3 options, tried all of them..None worked..

I misclicked solve..
It's still same situation..
I also tried burning the Xubuntu 9.04 to a CD, then trying..
It managed to dectect the cd-rom (SATA1), i have put Cd-rom as primary boot, and when i start pc, it gets stuck on Hardware Monitor screen, showing temperature and some other things.. And after 5 minutes switches to Vista, and shows the same error message..
