This report is not actually a bug but a misunderstanding as to how phpmyadmin configuration works during installation. It will be converted to a Launchpad question and answered there.

During installation, phpmyadmin will ask you if you want to configure it for a Mysql database. You have the choice of configuring phpmyadmin during installation at this time, or selecting the option to configure phpmyadmin manually at a later time. It appears from the dpkg log that you chose to configure the database during installation but you had not yet actually installed mysql or if you installed Mysql on another computer, you did not give it's location correctly as the installation process assumed that you had Mysql already installed on the same computer as phpmyadmin.

In any case, once you have a working copy of Mysql available, just start phpmyadmin from your web browser and you will be able to configure it at that point to talk to your Mysql database.
