Asked by Barry

I have installed 9.10 karmic koala successfully overall, however, not able to get flashplayer to work,(eg youtube) asks me to get the flash player Adobe Flash Player version 10.0.32.18 from website downloaded and tried to install Gdebi package installer
Error: Dependency is not satisfiable: libnspr4-dev

Ubuntu Software Centre: Unable to update / install ; gstreamer codecs ; Cheese photos, webcam ; thunderbird ; VLC multimedia
not availble in the current data. is the common reason, and cant install anything from the new software centre.
however this machine is only 2 years old.

is anyone having similar problems and or known issues like this, with this new version, and hopefully, suggestion's that may be able to fix or further follow-up

Thankyou

I suggest, you should enable the repositories that is not enabled by default(universe and multiverse, I guess), from the Synaptic, or the "Software sources" option in the admin menu.
Then press the reload button in Synaptic. Now, I think you should be able to download the files, either from Synaptic or the Software center itself.
Also before all this please update your system, this may have some bugfixes, that may solve your problem.
I hope this helps you..

From the Software center, search the string "ubuntu" and select the package ubuntu-restricted-extras. It will install a bunch of packages (about 50 MB) that are essentials for exploiting multimedia resources on the web. This is the first package I always install after a fresh Ubuntu installation.

Barry, I had this problem too, to solve it go to System>Administration>Software Sources.
Type your password.
Choose by download source 'other'.
Then press 'Select Best Server'.
It will now look for the best server and when that is done click 'Choose Server'.
Then close the Software Sources window. It will ask you to reload some stuff .
Then return to Ubuntu software center and search for ubuntu-restricted-extras.
You will most likely be able to download and install it.
