ive got a instalion problem while installing ubuntu 6.06.1 the lts vertion.

well i run the ubuntu off the live cd i downloaded. and everything runs fine i get no errors. so i go to start the instalion. and it ask's me to anser a few questions. and i do # 1 and it goes fine but ehh i got allot of lag while doing it. and finally # 2 pops up, but... its loading, and loading, and loading, i gave it 20mins to load and it still did not load! it did not freeze because i could still move the mouse, but it was very laggy it was unberable. lol. and i restarted the pc and then tried again, same same thing... well is there any way to get it to run faster or to get the instalion to work? i have got 256mb of ram its just the right amount of ram needed. and no os on the hard drive im putting it on, its 40gig. well can anyone help?

If the problem is limited memory on the machine (it sounds like that's the problem) then I suggest you download the 'Alternative' CD instead of the 'Desktop' CD. It uses a plain text installer which starts and runs much faster. See: http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/downloadmirrors
