Wubi install 9.10 'invalid argument' error

I downloaded 9.10 and created a CD. I have tried to install Ubuntu under Windows Vista using Wubi but I get an 'invalid argument' error. This is the log I got. Any help will be much appreciated.

Did you MD5 test the ISO you downloaded?
Did you MD5 test wubi.exe?
Did you burn the CD as SLOWLY as you could?
Did you run the CD verifier once initially booted to?

I do not know what an MD5 test is.

I have booted up Ubuntu several times from the CD that I created with no apparent problems, though I couldn't play mp3 files.
I have used Wubi on the CD and a new version downloaded separately, neither worked.
Having thus tried to install Ubuntu and rebooted the system, I was not given the choice of loading Ubuntu... it went straight to Windows. I have now used the standard windows utiliies to uninstall Ubuntu, or what there was of it. The uninstall worked OK.

In the past I have had Ubuntu 9.04 loaded on this machine, not using Wubi, but I deleted it and used Super GRUB to to change the multiple boot option back to the single boot I started with..... Windows Vista. The partiton which contained Ubuntu is now unallocated space on the disc.

I used the default settings in my version of Nero to create the CD, I do not know the speed; I did not verify the CD. I am not aware that they have caused any problems

MD5 is used o verify daa using a checksum. You have downloaded and burned an unverified file, then installed and at no point thought "Wai, maybe he data is corrupted". TCP does a good job of downloading data and checking packets but it is not flawless and errors do occur. Torrents add an extra check to the data but again, MD5summing should be implemented to test the data is correct. If you are using wubi, the wubi installer also has an MD5 hash so you can test that too.

I suggest you boot to the CD to perform a CD self test.

I strongly advise MD5 tests to all users, seems windows users know least about MD5 testing, please tell 2 friends of MD5 testing and have them tell 2 friends.

Burning speed can also affect installers and the recommended speed is as slow as you are physically allowed, Nero has a speed option, you just need to read the screen a little more.

I have run md5sum against the iso file and wubi .... no errors.
I have created a new CD with 'read after write' checks .... no errors
