Advise request for a Linux friendly laptop

Asked by Uqbar

I understand this is not the right place to ask such a question. Nonetheless i beg you all for suggestions.

I'd need to buy a new laptop that will do the first boot with an Ubuntu CD inside.
I'd like to stay "light", below the 2.5 Kg and possibly a Core 2 Duo CPU.
I'm not sure whether the embedded graphics controller using share memory sucks or can be barely acceptable with X: I won't run intesive graphics,
but maybe from time to time I will watch a AVI movie. 3D desktops are too much for myself.
WiFi and Bluetooth can be otional, while the wired NIC is mandatory.
The optical unit can be external.

So, what'd be your suggestions?

I read about it. But I'm still looking for good advises about weigth and graphics processor.
I'm not sure whether those integrate, shared memory controller can be OK under X.

As far as GPU's go, anything nvidia works very well, including those with shared memory and turbocache. Most Intel integrated gfx also work very well and intel commits to providing open sourced drivers for all their GPU's. ATI is also well supported contrary to popular rumor.
