how do I go back to 9.04

Asked by Ian Brownlie

Sorry guys but it seems on my computer ubuntu 9.1 is a crock. The disk will not boot the system , I have tried sbm but it just says unknown format. I upgraded on-line using the update manager, now very little works. I then downloaded the 9.1 desktop image and put it on a disk. That's as far as I can get. So, I'm now left with 2 choices, go back to 9.04 or (shudder) move on to windows 7.
I'm really hoping someone can help me with this.
                                                 Regards Ian.

I'm not sure what the question is. Are you having trouble with the live CD booting the system? Or after you install 9.10 the system won't boot?

As I mentioned, I upgraded on line using the update manager, 9.1 boots but with lots of problems. So, I thought I'd download the 9.1 image and reload it. But, the disk refuses to boot , I tried smart disk boot, but all I get is "unknown format". I don't have too much time to mess around with it so my first preference is to revert to 9.04 which ran beautifully. I need a working computer, and, as it stands there are too many things that just don't work in 9.1. so 9.04 would be my ideal solution.
           Thanks for the reply,
Ian

Hi Guys, I dug out my 9.04 disk and re-loaded it, thankfully all important dta was stored on external drives. So it's back to 9.04. Thanks for answering . Ian
