Ubuntu 9.10 doesn't "shut down" properly.

Asked by DanInKtown

I'm dual booting Ubuntu and Windows XP SP3 Pro. (Windows XP is up to date.)

My hardware is a Compaq Presario, AMD Athlon XP3200+, 2.2 GHz, !GB RAM.

Prior to my upgrade to Ubuntu 9.10, the final stage of a Ubuntu "shut down" was my hardware being powered down.

When Ubuntu 9.10 is "shut down," the desktop goes away and the following is shown on my display:

usplash: Using mode 1024x768
Filesysten type is ntfs, partition type 0x07
