Extremely slow boot up times (2m 30s) on Karmic 9.10, compared to 25 secs with Jaunty 9.04?

On two separate systems (Intel & AMD) I am experiencing very slow boot up times (2m 30s) on Karmic 9.10 compared to 25 secs with Jaunty 9.04.

run:

dmesg | less

and read the output (use cursors to scroll up and down) The number on the left if the time since the kernel came online. Look for large gaps in time to help determine the issue.
