the libftdi package for Ubuntu 7.04 need to be updated to v0.10

Asked by icewalker

Current Ubuntu release v7.04 provides libftdi 0.7-3 (+ dev) which is nice.

This release of the library does not support a correct ftdi_sio - kernel module - loading/unloading support making difficult (I actually did not succeeded ) to use customs software with custom USB hardware with specific Product/Vendor ID.

Since the 8th of May a new release of the libftdi is available on the author website at
http://www.intra2net.com/de/produkte/opensource/ftdi/
making everything to be more convenient.
I manually installed it and everything works fine, except that since I removed the package from the distrib I have no more automatic check for updates :(.

That will be very nice to see the libftdi-0.10 soon.

Thanks for your great job,
with kind regards,
Antoine

Thanks for your suggestions.

A backport is quite unlikely in my opinion. I'm afraid you have to wait for Ubuntu Gutsy, which will be released at October.

Hi,
As always suggestions for backports are welcome. Information on requesting a backport for Ubuntu is available on this page:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuBackports Though the possibilities of it being accepted and ported will vary, depending on importance, timeframe of those that package them, etc.

Hope this helps,
Regards,
Justin
