When will the 9.10 UNR img file be available?

Asked by Christopher

Booting the UNR from a CD/DVD player times out. I installed 9.04 with no problems with a flash drive holding an img file. I cannot find one for 9.10.

My netbook does not have a CD/DVD player and even with one attached by USB, the boot times out.

I may be dense, but all I see is an iso file. My Acer Netbook needs an img file to work. An img file was provided for Jaunty, which I used successfully to install Jaunty over the Xandros version that came pre-installed.

I have Jaunty remix installed on a 16GB USB device as the internal hard drive is quite small.

I have three other computers running Karmic - the netbook is feeling rejected. ( -;

Hi Christofer,
till the .img will be released (I suppose when the final version comes out), you can use the UNR .iso and create a USB startup disk from any running 9.04 or 9.10 (installation or Live version):
System > Administration > USB startup disk creator

Firstly get the UNR .iso, then check it with md5sum and finally 'run' USB startup disk creator.

George

Thanks, I have the Imagewriter. I tried renaming the .iso file to an .img; it worked, but it 'burned' the same files as if it were done with the USB Statrup Disk Creator, which the Netbook blissfully ignores.

I can wait until the image file is released after the official launch of Karmic. I'll cry a lot, but I'll wait.

Netbook users nee to have an .img file for loading Ubuntu 9.10 NR onto their Netbooks.

Can someone provide an Ubuntu 9.10 Netbook Remix .img file? It would really help us.

This question isn't resolved.

I am trying to create a bootable usb stick for my EeePC using OS X. I need a .img file to do that. Several links are pointing misleadingly to the official 9.10 download page.

see: http://bit.ly/6RLx6F
"Note: this procedure requires an .img file; it will not work with an .iso file. [Note: this should explain/link to how to obtain an .img file]"

and http://bit.ly/rzA7S

I have an ASUS netbook and was able to install from an ISO on a USB flash drive. I needed to set both the hard drive AND the boot priority in the BIOS to the USB drive to do it.

It doesn't require changing the hard drive in the BIOS with an IMG file, but it isn't hard to do with an ISO and the Startup Disk Creator. The hard drive and boot settings are in different sections of the BIOS.
