How can I upgrade from Karmic Beta into Karmic RC?

Asked by Waldir Leoncio

I have installed Kamic Beta and would like to upgrade it to just-released Karmic RC. I tried running "sudo apt-get upgrade" and "update-manager -d" and the upgrade does not show anywhere. How can I do this?

Simply by keeping it upgraded... and you will get not only release candidate but also the final stable release.

Open a Terminal from the menu Applications->Accessories->Terminal

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

give your user password when requested, you don't see nothing when you type it, then press enter.

Hope this helps

Thanks, Marco. I haven't tried dist-upgrade yet. Actually, I just did, and it doesn't show the RC version yet, but maybe I should wait a couple of hours, since it doesn't seem to have been officially announced yet (www.ubuntu.com still has a Beta banner).

The beta and the rc use the same repos so when the rc is released tyou will upgrade seamlessly into the RC

don't worry
