I have a dell xps 410 machine.
I run ubuntu 9.4

When the system reboots (after an update or if chosen) it will shut down and then come back up and give me this. I have to hard boot to get out of it.

[39568.044087] hub 6-0:1.0: hub_port_status failed (err = -110)
[39568.044367 restarting system

I have had this error since Ubuntu was installed fresh on new hard drive.

What USB devices do you have attached to the machine?

I have a printer (HP officejet 6500 wireless). error predates that printer though.
Two monitors (dell and an Acer)
Maxtor external backup drive
Mouse/keyboard via kvm switch
Logitech webcam

I had a tech install ubuntu and he got the error before I hooked up my stuff... would have had the shop monitor, mouse, keyboard at that time.

Well, I red about some power issues for USB ports in front of your computer case. You can try to plug the devices (if any in front) in the back of your computer case. Anyway, you may try to unplug and plug one by one to see it's behavior.

Good luck
