HOWTO: Install Dell Printer 720 (aka Lexmark z615 or z600 series) w/64-bit AMD Phenom on Ubuntu 9.10 beta?

Asked by Kreative_Station

How do I install my Dell 720 Inkjet Printer??

I've spent quite some time and have basic understanding but still not sure 100%.
I downloaded some additional packages:

Alien (converts & installs RPM and other Linux installer's)
Libstdc++5_3.3.6-17ubuntu1_amd64.deb

From what I understand I have downloaded a driver that needs to be converted and then properly installed through the CUP manager which can be access via http://localhost:631/admin. I've attempted to install a generic driver but was unsuccessful @ the attempt to print a page...

I'm running a 64-bit AMD Phenom 9600 on Beta Ubuntu 9.10. All the referenced websites that I've come across seems impossibly unclear for me to understand and follow. How do I extract/convert/install this Printer my Grama gave me?

Please shoot me some advice before I shoot my head.
Thanks, all info will considered useful and is appreciated.

The Dell 720 Inkjet Printer appears to be a Lexmark z615 so maybe you'll get better luck trying to install a driver for the Lexmark printer.
