Compatible and Running

I use a AMD sempron sempron based latop, i would like to know can i install ubutnu on my latop it has the following specs
512MB Ram
40 Gb HD
Mobile AMD Sempron 3000+ processor
if i do install it will it perform smoothly on my laptop or not.

looking forward to a helpful response in this reagard ASAP.

Yes, with those specifications you shouldn't have any problems running Ubuntu. I have something that is slightly similar and everything works quite well on it :)
