Upgraded from 8.10 to 9.04 i get Ubuntu slow need to re-installing ubuntu

Asked by Vanostaajen

When I changed from 8.10 to 9.04 lots lowed down. Booting takes 3minutes longer and firefox turns gray every few minutes. So now I thought about re-installing ubuntu. But I don't know how to start this. I copied my home folder to my external hard drive bu how do I backup my tomboy notes? And my emails in evlution?

And also what should I install? 8.10 because it worked perfect, or wait for the 9.10?

If anyone can solv any question I'd be most gratefull.

this is a suggestion: A computer usually slows down due to junk files on the hard drive. as you mentioned that you currently upgraded, i guess that could be the cause of the speed. the one way you can experiment is - cleaning the junk-files-. this command will remove the old files from the system.
sudo apt-get autoremove . this will remove any remaining of programs. the other feature that come with 9.04 is the computer Janitor, be careful when using the Computer Janitor.(un select the ones you want to keep.)

Evolution has a wizard i should say that allows you to back up E-mail , which is under file and backup settings.
I have had similar problem in the past and running the command speed things up a little.
Try it out.
