Two major problems with karmic beta, Synce and Standby

Asked by awechris

One of the most important things of computing industry is synchronizing mobile devices. I run ubuntu since 8.04 and syncing wm5/wm6 devices was ok in 8.04 & 8.10. For a while it was ok in 9.04 too until some updates (in python if i am not mistaken) took place. Since then the synce broke (because it's mostly based on python or whatever) and it's sad to see that you have 9.10 coming out and still there is no progress in syncing with windows wm5/wm6/wm6.5 devices. I even tried Mark Ellis (synce) developer repositories but no luck :\

the other issue:
Sending system in standby (sleep) some times won't wake up. PC wakes up , but screen does not load.
Using HP TX1000 tablet PC.

Log a bug for the screen. Not sure about syncing stuff as I don't do it.

I'm feeling happy cause i just solved the issue with windows mobile not being able to connect to ubuntu 9.10. It was because PC's bluetooth name was the same with phone's bluetooth name. Changed the name on PC and mobile managed to connect to PC thru bluetooth (of course you have to enable the serial port using "sudo sdptool add sp" command). After that i used the 'built-in' version of synce packages and i just finished a successful sync between evolution and mobile. So synce of ubuntu beta 9.10 works fine with my wm6.5 device.

As for standby issue, i am possitive that will be fixed very very soon with a kernel update or so.

Keep up the good work !
