what is the command to see system log in jaunty

In most cases you will not find any hint on your problem in the system logs.
But there are other things that may help:
"cat /proc/acpi/thermal_zone/*/temperature" will print out the measured temperatures in your system.
"top" will show you processes that are causing high CPU load.

In most cases high system temperature is a sign of hardware problems. A fan may be broken or the airstream could be blocked. You should check this first and also the fan settings in your BIOS is available.

If you want to see system log then in terminal

cat /var/log/syslog
