can't see any launchpad bar on desktop... how to restore them ?

I did some changes usng synaptic package manager on pc but next time when i restarted my pc i didn't found launchpad bar on my destop so i'am unable to launch synaptic package manager or even terminal. what can i do???
even my ubuntu cd is lost and i don't hv any backup of it... if i go for ordering new copy of ubuntu it will take more than a month is there any other solution to this????
is there any other way to access synaptic package manager and terminal????

Try Alt+F1. That may still pop up the Ubuntu system menu although the panel is gone.

Right click the desktop -> new panel you can add the panel again and add the items you wish. You can reset all panels to default with:

gconftool --recursive-unset /apps/panel && killall gnome-panel

This will kill all customization on all panels and set them to how they looked when you very first logged in.

kalpesh is still having a problem:

i tried gconftool --recursive-unset /apps/panel && killall gnome-panel
in terminal by pressing crtl + alt + f2 but it's showing following error

Press CTRL + Alt + F2 or going into recovery mode and type:

sudo apt-get remove ubuntu-desktop
sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop
sudo reboot
