How to clone/move Ubuntu partition to a larger disk

Asked by John2

Hi all,

I have so far used Ubuntu on my external hard drive for testing purposes, but now I would like it to take over the whole computer :-)

Therefore I would like to install Ubuntu on my laptop main hard disk and make it the only operating system.

Is there a way to copy/ move the data or hopefully the whole existing partition structure onto the new hard disk, so I don't have to reinstall everything again?

is there any application that does the job of Vista's recover manager that replicates the partition and restores it on demand?

What steps can I take anyway?

Thank you in advance.
