Can burn DVD but not CD Ubuntu

Asked by Scimitar

Recently I asked a question as I could not burn with my dvd drive :

https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/81607

I thought this was fixed until today when I discovered that although I can burn all sorts of DVD I cannot burn CDs (date, audio or ISO images). Any ideas?

I'm using Gnome Baker, but the problem happens in other applications also.

Below is a log of the kind of thing that happens (if it is any help):

A quick update. Data CDs work, its just audio and ISO that don't work.

Well, no one else seems to be helping with this, so guess I'll give it a shot. I'm not sure of myself on this, but searched the internet for drivers/info on Plextor DVDR PX-716A and found a lot of reports saying people had trouble with it even in Windows. Found one link, though it was on the 716SA, that provides instructions on downloading updated drivers for it to use in Linux. Didn't solve his problem, but might work for yours. Try looking this over and see if it helps:

Can you help with this problem?
