DVD's are hard to hear even with the volume on high.

Asked by nu2ubuntu

The DVDs will play just fine but the volume is very low. Is there some type of input device volume that can be adjusted, MIDI or some other source volume? Yes I have the volume all the up on the machine and external speakers. Thanks for any help, nu2ubuntu.

There are many volume source as you figured. There is generally the master that applies after all the others. You can probably control all those volume levels by right clinking on the volume icon and go in "Sound Preferences". You can also go in System->Preferences->Sound.

If you need more precise information I would appreciate that you specify the version of Ubuntu that you use (Hardy, Intrepid, Jaunty or Karmic) and the DVD player you're using.

Good luck
