i cant watch videos or play mp3s

i recently downloaded limewire and it works fine but the videos i download wont play i get the message "the playback of this movie requires a mpeg-1 system stream demyxer plugin which is not installed".

also when i try to watch a dvd it asks me to install a plug in so i search for one then i get the message"no packages with the requested plugin found the requested plugins are:dvd source

please let me know what i can download im not computer smart at all and i just installed ubuntu so now im really lost. thanks in advance.

it also says that i need to install an mp4 decoder in order for my player to play the downloaded music

You need to install the "Ubuntu Restricted Extras" package, which will give you the required codecs. (Code needed to recognize the files) You can do so in the 'Add or Remove Programs' program.

i downloaded the package and the video i downloaded begins to play but its choppy and has no sound
