Downloading Linux Ubuntu for the first time need assistance and have questions

How long does installation take? Days?
Also I need any info on programs WINE is recommended by a ton of ppl
Always liked it never tried it

The install procedure takes from 15 to 40 minutes depending on your computer power.
For Wine, you should take a look at this link : https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Wine
The recommends instructions say to install the Ubuntu's version of Wine but if you ever want to use the latest from WineHQ you can follow the easy steps explained here : http://www.winehq.org/download/deb

Im sure i will I have watched Linux closely for a few years but was hesitant to download it now i am going for it :)
