Dapper live cd produces garbled display in asus laptop w/ ATI 7500

Asked by Miguel Gaspar

In an Asus L3000 C laptop, with ATi Radeon 7500, the dapper beta live cd starts up at 640x480 screen resolution. Altough I can set other resolutions, the image is then garbled, with parts of the screen beeing repeated. The native resolution is 1400x1050, and it works fine if I copy my xorg.conf from the (installed) dapper, wich I have tweaked long ago.

It seems the auto-configuration is failing to select the proper settings for the card or the display.

Have you made the laptop-testing team aware of this issue? Reporting this to them might be the best way to get this problem resolved
