Brother MFC 465cn printer driver from source code in 9.04 amd64

Asked by dasnbob

I have found and downloaded the source code(cupswrappermfc465cn_src) from Brother global site (usa choice from there). In need of help or instructions compiling/creating the driver to install. I also have the .deb install files and get error message of wrong architecture '.i386' when using Pkg Mgr.
Using the household network printer MFC465cn from the new 9.04 amd64 machine would prove useful.

Asus mb m4a78t-e
amd Phenom x3 720

Thanks in advance for any help,
Bob

Come to think of it, due to my proclivity towards typographical errors. Cut and paste instructions are greatly appreciated. :~)

You can just go into the package manager and search for the CUPS drivers. I have a 465cn myself, and it works just fine with the ones from the repos. If you REALLY want to install the drivers from Brother's website though, the AMD64 drivers are there too. Just follow the directions, and pray. I can't compile those drivers though, I get too many problems along the way, so I can't help you there.

Thank you.
I searched cups in Package Manager and added several files that looked promising, including the Brother extra printer file and printer installed cleanly with good driver from adding new printer System>Admin>Printing.

Thanks again for your quick post.
