Dual boot Vista/Ubuntu on two drives - need install help!

Hello. On a G71G I have two 250GB drives with 2 partitions each. Drive 0 is "C" and "E" and drive 1 is "D" and "F". Vi$ta64 (which I have to keep unfortunately) is on "C" and I now want Ubuntu64 9.04 on "D".

So when I boot from the live 9.04 CD and click "install" I get something like a 7 step process. Somewhere around step 4 I have trouble. Across the top of the screen it says that I have no operating systems on the computer (at all). This doesn't give me a good feeling. Especially when it doesn't give a means to (clearly) install it to drive "D". Designations like C,D,E,F etc. don't seem to exist. There's something very unclear about it. Did anyone get through that part? What am I missing? Other posts don't seem to address this exactly. Thanks for your help! Dave

Hi,

It wont detect your Vista OS.

When you will go ahead with your installation it would ask you to manually select in which part of the drive you want to install your Ubuntu 9.04.
Go for the manual option only. Now it will show you the area on the hard disc which is already filled and which area is free or empty.
Go for the free area of the hard disc and i suppose it must do.

Ok I have it installed. I deleted drives D and F and then renamed drive E to drive D. Then with drive 1 free and clear it was more easy to see what it was looking for in step 4. Thank you!
