I can't load Microsoft's "Flight Simulator 2004" into my Dell with Ubuntu's 8.10 (Intrepid) Linux-based operating system.

Asked by Bob Wade

What is solution? Have I lost ability to play Microsoft compatible flight simulation games on this Dell laptop because I chose the Ubuntu operating system? Have Pentium Dual-Core CPU.

What kind of flight games will Ubuntu Intrepid support? Airwar games?

Unfortunately, Linux-based operating systems like Ubuntu cannot run most software designed for the Windows operating system. However, a lot of Windows software can be run with the help of a program called Wine. You can find more information about it at www.winehq.org. Unfortunately, Microsoft Flight SImulator 2004 doesn't seem to run well with Wine: http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=2819. So unfortunately, you may just have to run the flight simulator in a Windows virtual machine.

However, there are flight simulators designed specifically for Linux. The first one that comes to my mind is FlightGear: http://www.flightgear.org/. I am sure there are others you could find as well.
