How to get a package removed from the universe repository

Asked by Jesse Weinstein

I have come across a package (emacs-extras) that seems inappropriate to be included in the universe repository. Someone else filed a bug requesting it's removal, but there has been no response for months. I have not been able to find any description of a process or procedure for getting packages removed from the standard repositories, or who should be alerted about this.

Log a new bug or comment on the oriinal bug you have found stating why it must be removed.

It looks like you have done the right things for now. Near the top right of the bug-report is a link "This bug doesn't affect me". Click on that and it should change to "This bug affects me too". From the looks of the rest of what you have done there i would guess that you have already done that but it's a bit obscure so i thought i would mention it.

Good luck and regards from
Tom :)

Thanks to both of you for the suggestions, although I'd already done both -- I'll leave this question open, just in case one of the MOTU comes by.

Can you help with this problem?

Provide an answer of your own, or ask Jesse Weinstein for more information if necessary.
