acer 5043 laptop 3d acceleration
I am using Ubuntu 8.04 on my Acer 5043, which has the following specs:
* AMD Turion 64 ML-32 1.8 GHz CPU w/ 512 KB L2 Cache
* 1 GB RAM
* 100 GB Hard Disk Drive
* DVD +/- RW
* 15.4" Widescreen Display WSXGA
* ATI Mobile RADEON x1300 Video
* 802.11 B / G Wireless Adaptor
* Gigabit LAN
* V92 Modem
I just upgraded from Ubuntu 6.06.2, and my problem is that 3D acceleration is working, but not for everything. The command "glxgears" in terminal produces correct spinning gears, and "Armagetron Advanced" displays fine. "SuperTux 2" appears very laggy, as does "Planet Penguin Racer", both run at 1-2 fps.
I'm not sure if this is related, but under "System -->Preferences --> Appearances --> Visual Effects" If I chose "Normal" or "Extra" the screen turns white for several seconds and returns without making the change.
