Asked by KiKiAcId

I have installed Ubuntu 9.04 on my sony laptop model VGN-FW245j/h
# Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0 GHz
# Cache: 2MB L2 Cache
# Memory: 4GB PC2-6400 SDRAM
# Hard drive: 250GB Serial ATA
# Graphics card: Mobile Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD w/Clear Video (1750MB) HDMI

my tv JVC model LT-32E488

I had the laptop partition for dual boot windows 7 rc and Ubuntu with windows my hdmi connections works fine. However when logged in Ubuntu, whenever i select the external input on my tv to use it as an external monitor ubuntu freezes and ctrl +alt+ backspace / Alt +Sysrq +k nor Alt + Sys Rq 'rwisub' does nothing . I resort to hard boot (press power button ).

Will appreciate any help.

Unfortunately, the current general situation with Linux and multiple monitors "just working" is bleak. There is work happening in this arena, but there won't be an overnight solution.

As for the crash aspect, it's not something you could be doing wrong. By definition, a crash is incorrect behavior. Thus, a crash means that code needs to be fixed. In other words, a bug. If you have the energy, you could do the Ubuntu and Linux ecosystem well by submitting information to diagnose the bug. Here is a page on information about how to report a bug.

You probably won't be using Apport, so scroll down just a bit to 'ubuntu-bug'.

Good luck.
