how do i get the 3ddesktop to work

 i have 6.06(dapper) on a mac g4 with one gig of ram and dont know how to get the 3ddesktop to work

Dapper is a pretty bad choice when you try to use 3d desktops. This topic is under heavy development and the prohress is huge. Dapper is over a year old. Better switch to the current version of Ubuntu called Feisty Fawn. Feisty e.g. has a 3d window manager called compiz installed by default. I can't say it will work - macs and linux is a unknown topic for me - but the chances are better.

 thank you for your reply i will try that . when ive gone to upgrade it tells me that apt is unstable.
