How to start translation

Asked by Pavan

Hi,
I am fairly new to translation work.
Recently I joined a translation team in Ubuntu. I wanted to know the steps, from basic level, so that I can contribute for the translation.

Thanks and regards,
Pavan

Hello Pavan,

Thanks for your question. Translations are mostly managed here in Launchpad. To get involved, you should get in touch with your LoCo Team https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LoCoTeamList and/or join the Ubuntu-translators mailing list https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-translators where you can ask for more specific information and how translations can be done in your language.

Hope this helps,
dennis

If I'm not mistaken, you can also go to the translation page

https://translations.launchpad.net/

and search for a project, ubuntu for example

https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu

then a language and start looking for pieces that need translating. Once you find something, you can post a translation. I think admins or project managers will then confirm it but I'm not 100% sure about it all.
