Is it a Audio CD, a Video CD, what is it?

Anyway, try this:

Open up a terminal and write ~$ gksudo nautilus

Then from the file browser window that opens up, press CTRL+L and write /media/cdrom. That should let you navigate through the files on your CD ;)

doesnt work it says error cdrom is a directory and it will not let me eject cd from tray and cd still loads then quits and my cds are files neither audio or video they are just plain rw cds like for example games or the linksys cd that allows me to use wifi.

Hi :)

Hopefuly this link will help
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SwitchingToUbuntu/FromWindows

Ubuntu is not Windows it's Linux, a completely different Operating System and many people find it far superior to Windows because of it's faster speed, vastly better security and the way it offers freedom of choice rather than freedom from choice. It does take some time to get used to it and unlike Windows it is seldom pre-installed on your system so people often have to do the trickist stuff first. In Windows installing and setting up a machine would be done by a team of experts. In linux the new user has to do that without having had a chance to learn about linux. It sounds as though you have managed to install Ubuntu almost by accident?

Since Ubuntu is a completely different OS it has it's own programs and it's own drivers also there are completely different ways of working which you may struggle with at first but will very soon find much more comfortable than the crazy Windows ways.

To start with, most wiifi will work straight away without having to install anything exta. During a normal install of Ubuntu it does a lot of hardware detection and automatically installs almost everything you need to be able to use your machine straight away quite easily. I am not sure what you would normally use wiifi for but try a typical use and you should find wiifi responds.

However you might want to ask a question in here about checking it is setup right
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+addquestion
usually people ask a whole lot of different questions and we solve each one separately (hopefully). The link there should help you ask about each thing you need help with.

I found these links about wifi but i'm not sure how useful they are

For Games these links might help

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Games

I find Wesnoth and Glest strangely better than WoW although really they are completely different of course. Wesnoth campaigns are great but Glest just looks amazing imo. It's quite difficult to compare those 3 with each other. I really don't like FPS so Alien Arena is just wrong. Neverball is quite fun and addictive but i can't get past level 2, XGalaxians i am stuck getting past level 5. Err, i just don't do much gaming i guess <shuffles feet>

This link helps get Windows stuff working in Ubuntu (and other versions of linux (other distros)). Just use the search tool at the top to look up how people got the appropriate game working in linux, also the forum there might be helpful

Good luck and regards from
