Set up Internet TV

Asked by Rob Frerejean

Hi,

I have a nice small strong and quiet PC. I want to put it under my TV and set it up to watch live TV from Internet. I want to use Linux for this. What should I install on that PC.?

I heard about Mythbuntu and MythTV, but after looking on those site´s I can´t find anything about watching live feeds from Internet.

Does anyone have an idea?

Rob

You will need a video card with an output your TV will understand. Most cards have s-video out which can connect to modern TVs nicely. You can even convert it to scart without too much pain.

Mythbuntu is the same as all the other buntus but has a different default app set. You can installmythtv on a standard ubuntu install.

If your TV accepts s-video and your current graphics card does not allow it, I recommend nvidia gfx cards if you want to use this. Otherwise this is more than possible.
