hello every one,
Now arise a new problem in ubuntu 8.10 (Desktop edition). The problems are as follows:
1) How to change display settings.(There i can't get System->Preferences->Display)
2)How to install lamp in ubuntu 8.10 desktop edition?
3)how to configure network settings in ubuntu?
4)How many browser support ubuntu except firefox?
Please give me your valuable suggestion as soon as possible.

You will need to install video drivers to get a decent resolution

please provide the output of:

sudo lshw -C display

To install lamp run:

sudo tasksel install lamp-server

Network settings are configured in network settings

Ubuntu supports browsers such as:
Opera, Midori, Swiftfox, Iceweasel, Kasenchase, Epiphany, Lynx2, Konqueror

To name but a few.
