user name & paassword required to access recent installed Ubuntu 904 OS

I recently installed Ubuntu 904 in Windows XP which resulted in a Duel boot-- but am unable to access the

program because it asks for a 'user name and password' -- when I enter the ones I use for XP they are

refused --- the message " user name and password must be entered in the proper order" pops up

 I have tried several other user names and passwords which seemed relevant all to no avail

 and have no idea how to proceed

Since I am a computer illiterate would some one please advise

Hi,

well, when you start your laptop or pc, the first program you can see is Grub, there you can choose wish operating system do you wanna use it.

if is ubuntu, you need write your user & pass, when you were installing it you must create a user and pass.
always you can check in console pressing ctr+ alt +1 when you are in the login screen
