gio mount google-drive: volume doesn’t implement mount

Asked by Lucas Partridge

In ubuntu 22.04 I want to mount my Google Drive account automatically in Nautilus on startup/login.

In Settings > Online Accounts I've connected to my Google account (photos, files, printers only); I see my google account in Files, and I can double-click on it to mount it and see my Google Drive files.

But I get this error if I try mounting it in a terminal:

$ gio mount -i google-drive://<email address hidden>/
gio: google-drive://<email address hidden>/: volume doesn’t implement mount

I've looked for this issue on askubuntu but not found anything relevant (e.g., I don't have Flatpak installed). Please can someone help me diagnose and fix this problem.

This is still a problem for me. Any advice on diagnostics/logs to collect please?
