Best N64 emulator Xubuntu on PS3

Asked by thejayjetson

What is the best N64 emulator when running Xubuntu 9.04 on a PS3?
Since not all capabilities are given to the Linux side, would an N64 be able to run smoothly (Graphics card is locked as well as 2/8 SPUs)?
Is there a great free one, or do you have to sign up or pay someone to get one without the creator's name stamped all over it?

Side question: Will any N64 rom work with any working N64 emulator? For instance, if I am playing a game with an emulator that works fine on my mac, can I copy that same rom into the emulator that works on the PS3?

Thanks everyone, but I have come to the conclusion that Xubuntu sucks (for users like me, not advanced folks), and I have deleted it off my hard drive. At minimum I spent over 50 hours trying to do these simples tasks: Install, Full Screen OS, have my mouse remembered, and simply watch a YouTube video. The only thing I did accomplish was Install, which took about 12 hours to find the appropriate way. My Mac OS X does all these things automatically, and even when I had Windows Vista, I didn't have nearly this much trouble.

@thejayjetson, the problem isn't in Xubuntu, which is actually a great system. PS3 is not a laptop, and even less of a desktop, so you cannot expect to run things as smoothly as you would in your PC or Mac.

And most of all, you need to learn how to work things out. Starting on Linux might seem tough, but if you persist and mess around with it for a while, you'll even be able to work things out on your own.

Too bad you won't stick with Xubuntu anymore, there's actually some pretty good open source emulators out there for various systems like Nintendo DS, Game Boy, SNES...

Can you help with this problem?
