Translate of Ubuntu into Mayan Languages

Hello, I want to translate the Ubuntu OS into the Mayan Languages Kaqchikel, K'iche' (Quiché) and Tz'utujil. I am a Guatemalan educator developing a project that takes computers into the hands of Guatemalan children with no access to these tools. I want to translate Ubuntu into these languages as a tool that will help us take the computers to children while teaching them that retaining their culture and heritage is an important part of developing in the 21st Century Earth.

What I need help with is the language "package" that contains keys (or keywords) that we would have to translate in order to localize Ubuntu (i.e. the locale files that contain keywords and their translations; for example:
APPLICATIONS = Applications [in the english package]; and
APPLICATIONS = Aplicaciones [in the spanish package]).

I cannot find these packages or files. Any information on how Ubuntu is localized, translated, how this works, or where I could see the language package files (their content) is welcome and appreciated.

Translations of Ubuntu are handled in Launchpad at https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu . As no one is working on translating Ubuntu into your desired languages yet, you will have to do some set up. This link should help you: https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu-translations/+faq/611
