Tried to install a gnome extention. Now super does not open overview and can't reset.

Asked by Peter Stodder

Using ubuntu 24.04, gnome 46.

I tried to install this gnome extention,
https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/3733/tiling-assistant/
which for some reason was not working very well for me, so I completely removed it. However it somehow reset my left super key from opening the overview as it's supposed to.
Thing's I've tried:

logout and login after uninstalling extension, both via apt and in browser

Opening keyboard shortcuts in gnome settings, and setting the overview key to super. For some reason I cannot press super to set the hotkey.

Using dconf editor, navigating to the keybinding and typing [Super_L]. In dconf it says to use the default for opening overview, which it thinks is nothing, and I can't explicitly set it to Super_L, it says it's invalid.

Using this command:gsettings set org.gnome.mutter overlay-key 'Super_L', simply did not work

I have no idea what happened, it's the only hotkey change I've noticed so far since uninstalling the extension. I was simply trying to have i3wm like functionality in gnome session but it didn't work and now my regular gnome session isn't working correctly, thanks to this super hotkey problem. Help appreciated, thanks!

EDIT: Quick update, it seems like super is not recognized at all right now, for example in gnome-tweaks if I set window resizing to be super+right click, I cannot resize windows, however it works if set to alt+right click. I cannot set any keybinding as super and no super related keybindings work, like super+a to open activities.

EDIT: One more quick update, running "xev | grep key" in terminal, and pressing super outputs nothing, so clearly something is wrong there.
