What is the latest OEM kernel for Noble Numbat and what is the command line to install it?

Asked by Catalin Andrei

I purchased a new laptop with Ubuntu on it - check here https://ubuntu.com/certified/202112-29828

But I am afraid Focal Fossa is too old for me, I want to have the latest release. That is Noble Numbat.

But as seen in the link above, most likely nothing else will work apart from that version that comes preinstalled on the laptop.

I am trying to make it work with an OEM kernel for Noble Numbat.

Without it, the laptop is losing disk space continuously.

What is the latest OEM kernel for Noble Numbat and what is the exact command line to install it ? (with kernel name and version)

Thanks.

You can use the mainline kernel PPA. Lots of guides on how to use it. Adding a new kernel most likely won't stop the disk "filling up". Instead of throwing random kernels at things, see why the space is being used and address that. If a new kernel is the answer then so be it

Your answer comes as an argumentum ad ignorantiam since you do not know what I've been through to make any laptop for this matter to work on Linux.

In the end, I purchased one with Ubuntu on it and official support for drivers from DELL but it seems it will work only with their custom image from. 2020 Focal Fossa.

I will apreciate any real help to my question.

Note my last sentence.... I know I don't know, so your fallacy nonsense doesn't apply. You simply failed to read.

Personally, I'd contact Dell and ask if your hardware will run OK on 22.04 and upgrade LTS to LTS. Just make sure they'll support you too. You can then even upgrade to the next LTS, 24.04 and enjoy support from Ubuntu and it's community until 2029.

Very weird that Dell went with an old version like that. Yes on the server hold back like that but on end user systems..... Weird

Can you help with this problem?
