24.04 displays user folders in English

Not sure am I the right place but since I'm also affected by that bug which makes impossible to log in to AskUbuntu with my Launchpad account I am pretty stuck for years now with my issues.

So I freshly installed Ubuntu 24.04 on a machine and I just noticed that the folders inside my Home are using English names instead of the translated and I have no clue why. It is a totally fresh installation and up to date.

For diagnostic purposes, what is the output that you receive for the following commands (to be executed in a terminal window):

uname -a
lsb_release -crid
cat ~/.config/user-dirs.dirs
locale

Sadly not. Even if the issue is the exact same but I installed and using in the same language. So it somehow differs. Maybe some language packs are corrupted or missing?

I don't know what's changed since 22.04 but usually after every Ubuntu installation I had to open the language support application. Then it warned me that some packages are missing and I can download and apply them now. In 24.04 when I opened the application first time it only listed English as installed language which was unusual. So I had to add my language manually. I guess the installer is buggy.

I just figured out the solution. The article above is pretty old but still relevant. The file in 24.04 what contains the environment setting is "user-dirs.locale" instead of "user_dirs.locale". So the file's name changed just a bit. I edited user-dirs.locale and added my language then rebooted the machine. After login a prompt came up to ask me to confirm the renaming.
