Can I transfer KVM Windows guest to real machine?

Asked by Joe M

Hi,

I am new to KVM so I don't know if I am using the correct words.

I am testing a Windows Server 2008 as a guest machine. Now I want to use this installation on real computer.
Is it possible to take the full guest machine and load it as standard regular single boot on similar real hardware computer?
I am on Intel box and Ubuntu 9 server.
Is there a guide with step-by-step?

Thanks,
JM

I just cannot see how to transfer a working guest VM Windows Server from KVM and put it as the one and only OS on dedicated hardware. :(

You will need to find some KVM V2P (virtual-to-physical) tool.

Theres often tools for P2V but I cant say I've seen V2P ... especially not for KVM.
Try searching the web for some tools and try some out.
Otherwise you could backup your settings and make a fresh install , and restore the settings on the new server?

Can you help with this problem?
