How to configure BSNL's WLL for internet connction in ubuntu 9.10?

I installed Ubuntu 9.10 alpha 4 ysterday as it broke ma ubuntu 9.04 when i updated to the alpha 4 version. and now the problem is i cant connect to internet as i was in jaunty. It does not recognize ma modem. Am using BSNL's Clarithy IIA WLL modem built-in phone. And can i use modeprobe to set the usbserial? if yes how? does karmic consider setserial as a module?
