Updates for netbook ubuntu remix kill sound and net access

Asked by brett3

recently purchased toshiba nb100 with Ubuntu netbook re-mix, worked fine until first update 171 packages, once the packages were loaded sound was lost and internet, the only way to get working again was system restore once the update arrive again back to square one. The packet manager does not allow me not to load the up dates, keeps sending them every time internet is accessed.

The simplest thing may be is to reconfigure your Network Connection and Sound Devices as if you freshly installed Ubuntu.
I'm not sure but you can try, it doesn't waste much time.

Thanks for your suggestions Vihar and Tom, tried all the suggestions with no luck, when I load recovery is disc everything is fine, the there are 171 updates security x 11 and 160 recommended, they appear every time the internet is accessed, if I ignore them and don,t install fine, one of the 11 packets in security up dates kills the sound card not sure which one, one of the 160 recommended kit the wireless card. I am thinking to download a fresh Ubuntu Netbook remix and partition that to see if we get a different result.

Yes, it's odd that you are getting this problem. A fresh download and attempt is a good plan. I hope it works better this time!
