lost password for default keyring for nm-applet

Asked by Ronan Herron

I installed the nm-applet to auto connect to wireless and worked fine for ages on 6.06. Now its asking for the the "password for default keyring to unlock". The only passward I'd ever set up was the original user password which is asked for during sudo operations sometimes. This does not work. Is there somewhere I can undo this? My sudo password remains the same for everything else,..........unless I accidentally set it incorrectly,....in which case how come it worked perfectly without this password for months,......mmm,....confused
perhaps its time to upgrade this dual boot to feisty, in which case will all configs be carried forward and possibly the nm-applet password problem too?

I believe you can make a fresh start with the Gnome Keyring by running the following command in a terminal:

mv ~/.gnome2/keyrings/default.keyring ~

This moves the default keyring to your home directory, where the keyring system won't see it. When you next setup the wireless connection vi nm-applet, it should prompt you to set a new password for the default keyring. Once you have things running again, you can safely delete the default.keyring file in your home directory.

Can you help with this problem?
