home networking

    I have 3 computers 2 with windows xp home edition and ubuntu 9.04 on both of them and 1 with only ubuntu 9.04, currently I have the 2 dual boot pc's networked wired and want to know how to attach the 3rd pc to the network without using a wireless network or router? Is this possible?

Hi David,

Are your computers wired directly one to another? If so, you could add a second network card into them and configure Internet Connection Sharing.
If your computers are connected to a router you may want to check if your router has a third available LAN port. If your router does not have any available, you could purchase a router with more ports or a switch or hub.

I have network cards installed and what I need to know is how to configure the connections, also need to know how to get Ubuntu 9.04 to share a network connection?

thank's anyway people I figured it out. I setup my ubuntu 9.04 as server for the other two and all is well!
